- The papers have plenty to say on the Youth Alcohol Action Plan and many are not impressed.

"It's long on posturing but pitifully short on effective action," says The Daily Mail. Meanwhile, The Sun offers an interesting interpretation of new guidelines for parents: "Parents are to get a government guide book on how to teach their kids to drink alcohol."

The Independent fears the new strategy is "the old anti-yob campaign in a new disguise". "Unless the lack of affordable activities and entertainment for young people is tackled, cheap alcohol drunk with a gang of mates in the park will seem an attractive option to many," it warns.

- The Mail on Sunday features the case of Gavin and Teresa Allen, who wanted to adopt but claim they were discriminated against by local authorities because they're well-off and white.
