Project: Harlequins Rugby League's community work Mission: To use rugby to divert young people from crime and drugs Funding: No funding is needed
The Harlequins Rugby League team is using the sport to divert young people away from drug use and drug crime.
The club works with Hounslow Community Safety Partnership, holding events to encourage troubled young people to play rugby. Players from the first team squad also go to local schools to coach young people about rugby and educate them about drugs.
Sarah Butler, marketing manager at Harlequins, says: "It's about getting the kids involved in sport and getting them off the street. And of course, the rugby players get randomly drug tested and they have to be totally clean with a good image."
