The government has published a guide to improve the efficiency and speed of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.

What's been happening to take forward the National Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Review? The independent review - published in November 2008 along with the government's response to its 20 recommendations - looked at progress made since 2004 when significant changes in services that affect children and young people began to accelerate. That was the year that the National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services was published and the Children Act 2004, the legislative basis for Every Child Matters, became law. The work needed to support a number of the 20 recommendations is in motion: for example, in relation to the recommendation calling for an improvement in the quality of CAMHS by reducing waiting times from referral to treatment.
