Immigration: UK Bill sets safety law for children

The Border & Immigration Agency will, for the first time, have a legal obligation to keep asylum children safe.

In an amendment made to the UK Borders Bill this week, the agency willhave to follow a code of practice when dealing with children as itcarries out its immigration functions.

There will also be a pilot of alternatives to the detention of children,a review of family removals and the launch of the agency's framework tokeep children safe.
