
Kaiyan looks like any other 19-year-old male who cares about his "look". He's dressed in a white T-shirt, combat pants and Nike trainers, and appears to have spent a considerable amount of time styling his jet black hair into a John Travolta-like creation from Saturday Night Fever. But when he begins talking about his childhood in Afghanistan and what followed, the picture suddenly changes. This is no normal 19-year-old. His is a remarkable story of pain, loss, escape and, ultimately, hope. What brings Kaiyan to talk to CYP Now is his fear that the government's new policy of returning boys to Afghanistan will cost lives (see boxout).
