Homeless Scots call for benefit changes

Youth Work
Homeless young Scots presented a petition to Rhona Brankin MSP last month, calling for changes to the housing and benefits system.

The young people from the charity Quarriers have created a charter to set our their recommendations. These include providing housing of a reasonable standard in a safe location; giving time and funding to gather essential items of furniture before moving accommodation; and offering financial support for individuals to go to college or university.

Lead petitioner Sean Rice, said: "It is not just about getting a home, it is about the vital support which is needed throughout the process, to transform the lives of young homeless people."
