The new organisation represents more than 300,000 school governors inEngland and Wales and is open to single governors, governing bodies andlocal school governor associations. It has been created to lobby andcampaign. It will also provide guidance on good practice for governingbodies, briefings on education issues and information on current policyinitiatives.
It says: "Unlike many of the other powerful groups lobbying in the worldof education, the association has no vested commercial, political orprofessional interests other than the wellbeing and education of thenation's children."
