Help From ... Afasic

Afasic was established in 1968 to help the one million children and young people across the UK affected by speech, language and communication impairments.

The charity, founded as a parent-led organisation, provides information and training for parents and professionals. It also runs a helpline service launched in 1996 that now responds to more than 1,000 enquiries each year.

The helpline provides information and support about all areas of speech and language impairment and speech and language therapy, education and benefits, and operates from Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Afasic also produces a range of information sheets, leaflets and publications for parents, young people and professionals, including glossary sheets.
