Health: Professionals must stay vigilant

Health visitors and midwives should ask about forced marriage when questioning patients about domestic abuse, according to Government guidelines issued last week.

Dealing With Cases of Forced Marriage, Practice Guidance for HealthProfessionals is the latest in a series of guidance on the issue fromthe Government's Forced Marriage Unit.

Emily Arkell, policy adviser for safeguarding at the NSPCC, said healthprofessionals must be vigilant since they could have fewer chances thanthose working in education to identify children forced intomarriage.
