The launch of the standardised record means women will hold onto theirpregnancy record, information on labour and birth, a postnatal recordand summary of maternity information.
Lynn Masson, professional officer at the Royal College of NursingScotland, said the record would help women to feel more involved intheir care.
She added that pregnant women often saw a range of clinicians and thatgiving them the records would help to ensure professionals had access tothe same information, particularly if they were away from home.
