The claim comes as experts questioned government figures on the progressof child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) towards itstarget of becoming a comprehensive service by the end of this year.
Closures that look set to take place include in-patient units forchildren in Oxford and Birmingham. The West Midlands is already one ofthe most poorly served areas in the country with just 44 in-patient bedsavailable.
The closure of a ward at Birmingham Children's Hospital, which managesall of Birmingham's community CAMHS, will result in the loss of 10in-patient beds and five day places.
In Oxford, a 12-bed unit at the Park Hospital, is also set to beclosed.
