Health News: Community healthcare - Union challenges healthcutbacks

Health trade union Amicus last week launched a campaign to challenge NHS cutbacks in health visitors and school nurses.

The union's Who Cares? campaign aims to prevent primary care trusts fromlaying off health visitors and community nurses in order to balancetheir budgets.

Karen Reay, Amicus' lead professional officer for professional policyand practice, said: "Community nurses play an extremely important rolein the public health of the nation - but their numbers are under severeattack."
