School nurses across the UK are piloting a project to improve their skills in managing children's allergies.
The training programme, which began earlier this year, is run by theAnaphylaxis Campaign and is being piloted in Bradford, Cambridge,Edinburgh, north Devon and Omagh.
The campaign warns of an increase in pupils' allergies to substances, including peanuts and milk, but says allergy awareness and training forschool nurses is patchy.
Nurses will receive a four-hour seminar of interactive training aboutmanaging severe allergies and a pack that can also be used by otherschool staff, parents or pupils.
