The Oldmixon Youth Partnership has run the double-decker bus service since June. It will be using the funds to refurbish the bus with facilities such as a coffee bar and an internet suite.
Andrew McKenna, acting project manager who set up the bus, said: "The area severely lacks youth facilities. We have three rival estates - one has a youth centre and we have the bus. Since our bus has been open three nights a week, the police say it has made a big impact."
The bus has attracted around 125 young people as members. McKenna has widened the age range to include the eight- to 14-year-olds who cause the most disruption and hopes to run the bus five nights a week.
