COMMENTARY
Labour’s pledges on children’s mental health have been praised by The Children’s Society. Its director of policy and research Sam Royston, says: “Our research has found that around 110,000 children are turned away from mental health services each year and for those that do get treatment they have to wait up to 83 days from first referral. Open access hubs would help so many who currently can’t access services. Youth-centred hubs such as these would bring huge benefits; staying open in the evenings, offering safe spaces that help to tackle stigma and also giving parents much needed guidance and support.”
