The group, which is made up of the leaders of 11 Conservative-controlledcounty councils in the region, says members face a combined 300mblack hole in their spending that will have to be met by the Governmentor through cuts.
A group spokesman said because of council tax capping, if the extra300m is not made available, cuts, including in children'sservices, "are the only option".
"The pressure is on children's and social services as they are the mostexpensive," he said. "A lot of councils will have some difficultdecisions to make unless more money is made available."
West Sussex County Council says that it could be forced to make cutsworth at least 3.5m across social care. Council leader HenrySmith accused the Government of siphoning off money from the region andhanding it to authorities in the Midlands and the North.
