The fund, first announced in the last Budget, is being delivered by a consortium led by First Light Movies and including the Media Trust, sector skills council Skillset and the UK Film Council.
Youth minister Beverley Hughes said: This is a part of the Youth Matters agenda and will give young people, especially those who dont easily have the opportunity to do so, a chance to express their voices and develop skills such as teamwork, creativity and communications, all attributes you need to get on in life, not just to do media projects. She said that evaluation of the fund would be important: If we can show this works, we can try to twist the Chancellors arm even further for more resources in the next spending round.
