The Royal College of Nursing has warned services will suffer and jobs lost if the NHS funding crisis is not tackled. Last week, the Department of Health predicted a 94m net deficit by the end of the 2006/07 financial year. Dr Beverley Malone, general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, said: "These figures confirm our worst fears. They are clear proof that we need a long-term plan to tackle the deficits crisis as a matter of urgency."
