A huge increase in the number of bids to a Home Office fund for projects that help asylum seekers get involved in community life has led to a delay in responding to applicants. Nearly 500 applications to the Purposeful Activities for Asylum Seekers Fund were received this year, more than double the number sent in last year. Results should be announced by the end of the month.
