Fostering Support is to use the approach where investigations by local authorities and police have concluded that the allegation is false and no further action is being taken.
The approach will see a mediator meet the foster carer and the young person separately to discuss their views on the allegation with the ultimate aim of getting the two to meet face-to-face to bring the incident to a close.
"What we're doing allows us to bring the child who made the allegation together with the foster carer," said Debra Gibbs-Baker, director of Fostering Support.
"They are helped to feel better about one another and don't feel judged or any resentment."
