Manchester United footballer Paul Scholes helped open a new building and sports facilities at a school in Manchester. Along with the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Glyn Evans, the footballer unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of Haveley Hey Primary School. The school's 350 pupils launched hundreds of balloons to mark the occasion. The sports facilities include an amphitheatre, football pitch and netball courts. Scholes said: "The new school looks fantastic both inside and out." Head teacher Lesley Maddock (right) added: "This wonderful first-class learning environment that we now have is already making a massive difference in teaching and learning at the school."
