A report by Parliament's Constitutional Affairs Committee, whichscrutinises Government policy on the family courts, said proceedingsneeded to become more transparent to restore public confidence in thesystem.
The report also urged the Government to make it compulsory for familiesinvolved in disputes to have a preliminary meeting with a mediatorbefore being allowed to go to court.
The Association of Lawyers for Children said it wanted more openness butonly if proper safeguards to protect children are put in place too.
