Ex-gang member to speak to pupils

A former New York gang member is to teach pupils at a London school that violence is not a solution to problems.

Ex-gang member Sergio Argueta, whose brother and friend were killed through gang violence, will talk as part of a 'Breaking the Cycle' tour, which launches at St Antony's Church, Forest Gate, Newham tomorrow (Thursday).

The 29-year-old, who has since founded an organisation on resisting gang life, will be joined by police officer Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum and teen counsellor Christoph Arnold.

The tour started in the US in response to the Columbine high school massacre. After the launch it will continue in the UK with local speakers.
