EUROPE: Youth parliament goes to Newcastle

Three hundred young people from 30 countries are expected to descend upon Newcastle from 24 March to 4 April next year, for 10 days of debate about European citizenship.

Marcus Pollard, president of the parliament's alumni association, said that the aim of the session was to increase young people's awareness of European issues and provide an educational experience.

The UK will be represented at the international debate by young people selected from a group of 14 regional winners at a debate event in York this September.
