Education News: Truancy - Birmingham pack to go to nurseries

Birmingham City Council is to roll out its anti-truancy resource pack to early years classes for the first time later this year.

It plans to extend the availability of its Cool Cats Come To School pack, which was launched for primary schools last year, into nursery classes from the autumn in a bid to tackle the issue at the earliest opportunity, a spokeswoman said.

The pack includes parent and pupil story books, a guide to setting up a reward scheme for good attendance, posters featuring specially designed Cool Cat characters, and general advice on tackling truancy.
