The Investors in Families scheme is being developed by head teachers'school governors and local authority officers. The pilot will launch inOctober and it is expected to go UK-wide by the end of the year.
"The scheme aims to promote a set of national standards based on thefive outcomes in the Every Child Matters agenda that all schools canwork towards to demonstrate positive approaches to working withfamilies," said a spokesman for the scheme.
"The accreditation will be based on evidence provided by the schooltogether with an annual visit to discuss the work."
Children Now understands eight local authorities have already agreed tosupport the scheme and one director of children's services has signed upto launch it. Full details of how the scheme will operate will beunveiled in July.
