0.9% of primary pupils did not have English as their first language inJanuary 2004 (11 per cent in England)

0.03% of the school population excluded permanently in 2003/04 (0.13 percent in England)

In its last Ofsted report, Barnsley Local Education Authority wascommended for improving provision for pupils with special educationalneeds and praised for delivering better educational support to childrenin public care. But it was criticised for not sufficiently improvingbehaviour support and education outside of school.
