8.1% of nursery and primary school pupils taking free school meals inJanuary 2006 (13.3 per cent in England)

North Somerset's annual performance assessment report states: "There iseffective provision and support for children and young people withspecial educational needs. Performance indicators in this area are good,and achievement by pupils with special educational needs is improving atall key stages. Absences are low overall."
