But the Department for Education and Skills has urged trusts to preserve "successful" Connexions partnerships and the brand may survive in some areas.

This still leaves partnerships in a state of limbo. Who, for example, decides what "successful" means?

In west London, the partnership model was effectively disbanded earlier this year, and the six local authorities in the area now receive money directly from the Government to provide Connexions services (YPN, 12-18 October, p3).
