The charity announced the target as part of its new strategy, which includes the aim to reach 500,000 children and young people each year by the end of 2011. So far the charity has recruited 206 volunteers, but hopes to increase this to 1,000 in the next three years.
Volunteers will be required to undertake a 120-hour Open College Network-accredited course to become educators. The charity aims to have a drugs educator in every part of the UK.
