Don't miss: TXU - Sporting the Hijab - BBC 1Xtra, 19 April, 2-4pm

Muslim presenter Max Akhtar meets a new generation of Muslim young women who are challenging traditional roles by getting involved in sport - with or without wearing a hijab.

The Government's campaign to get the nation fit and healthy has inspired young people across the country to head out into the fresh air and get their hearts pumping.

Although Muslim society does allow women to play sport, they are also required to wear the hijab in public and not allowed to take part in mixed games. The programme investigates how this affects young Muslim sportswomen and questions whether it is possible to balance faith with sporting ambition.

Contributors include tae kwon do black belt Yasmeen Nawaz, recently named Muslim Sportsperson of the Year; and Pakistan's top-ranked sportswoman, Carla Khan.
