Don't miss ... Second Generation Sikhs

1 min read

Young Sikhs talk about the challenges presented to their faith and identity while growing up in 21st-century Britain in this two-part series.

Timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the compilation of the Sikh holy scriptures, the Guru Granth Sahib, the first programme focuses on writer and performer Sody Singh Kahlon. Sody is the only Sikh "practising comedy" in the UK and is touring with his one-man show, Sikhs In The City, which explores life as a Sikh Asian in Britain.

Award-winning artists Amrit and Rabindra Kaur Singh, known as The Singh Twins, take their influence from both East and West to challenge stereotypes. In the second programme, to be aired on 1 August at 5.40pm, they explain how they seek to redefine what has become a generally accepted perception of their heritage and identity.
