Repton Boys' Club, London's oldest boxing gym in the heart of the East End, is a focal point of the community. School of Hard Knocks follows the lives of three teenagers at the club who dream of making it big in the boxing world.
For Tom, 13, from a large family of Travellers, Repton gives him an opportunity to make his mark and a place to belong. For Kamal, a dyslexic 19-year-old Asian, the club helps him in his job as a fitness instructor. And for 20-year-old Andrew, the canvas provides the perfect place to focus his aggression. The programme explores how the three use the sport to stay out of trouble and avoid negative distractions.
