
New guidance for head teachers, local authorities and health agencies working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) has been approved by Parliament. The SEND code of practice: 0 to 25 years provides guidance on duties, policies and procedures relating to reforms made under the Children and Families Act 2014.
Ofsted has warned an academy trust led by a former government adviser that too many of its schools are underperforming and not improving fast enough. The BBC reports that Ofsted found that five Schools Partnership Trust academies, led by Sir Paul Edwards, were failing to provide good quality education.
Wiltshire Council has rejected a bid to use £225,000 saved by making staff redundancies and closing youth clubs to provide street-based youth workers. The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald reports councillor Jon Hubbard put forward the bid due to concerns the council was cutting “too much, too quickly”.
