
Prime Minister David Cameron is considering plans to extend new rights for paid leave to grandparents. The Daily Mail reports that grandparents who look after children whose parents have died, fallen ill or cannot care for them could be given rights to paid leave, similar to a new entitlement for adoptive parents, who from next year will be able to take nine months of paid leave.
New research claims that children born to confident mothers are likely to perform better in their GCSE exams. The Centre for Economic Performance has suggested that a mother’s confidence during pregnancy will be a greater influence on how children perform in their GCSEs than the quality of their teachers, The Independent reports.
Music videos on YouTube are to be given age ratings from October as part of government efforts to prevent children from viewing graphic content. The Independent reports that new filters will be introduced to replicate existing offline age restrictions on video content.
