
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has admitted that the government’s universal free school meals scheme will have teething problems when it launches in September. According to the Guardian, Clegg told radio station LBC that some schools will not be ready to implement the scheme due to inadequate kitchen facilities.
Staffordshire County Council will press ahead with proposals for cutting youth services despite a public outcry against the plans. The Stoke Sentinel reports that the council will ignore a petition that attracted 15,500 signatures when discussing the shake up youth provision.
