
Around 227 children from Grenfell Tower and neighbouring blocks are still living in emergency accommodation almost five months after they were made homeless by the fire, MPs have heard. The Guardian reports that MPs were told that an independent report found that 320 households are still living in hotel accommodation.
Education Secretary Justine Greening has announced that Ian Bauckham will provide the Department for Education with advice on how relationships education should be taught in schools. Bauckham, who spent 13 years as a head teacher, and is a former president of the Association of Schools and College Leaders, will speak to parents, teachers, children and other interested groups about the topics that young people will be taught, including age-appropriate content on mental wellbeing, keeping safe online and LGBT issues.
Members of the UK Youth Parliament will debate a range of topical issues, including the need for a "curriculum for life" and public transport on Friday. More than 200 young people representing constituencies across the UK will participate in the House of Commons debate.
The government has been accused of failing to act on a pledge to review redundancy protections for pregnant women and new mothers, as a report warned current laws were insufficient. The Guardian reports that charity Maternity Action said ministers committed to a review in January, but have not consulted on the issue since then nor provided any timeframe for doing so.
