
Childcare costs in parts of England could "sky-rocket" as a result of government plans to expand free childcare, a charity has warned. The BBC reports that the Pre-school Learning Alliance said a quarter of councils are set to see falls in government funding when the free 30 hours scheme starts next year.

A Home Office document seen by ITV News describes the move as a "new type of organised crime" that is "unreported" and suggests the number of children involved is "unrecorded". ?

A Muslim school that is taking legal action following a damning Ofsted report cannot be named by the media, a judge has ruled. The Express reports the school was rated "inadequate" by inspectors and has now mounted a legal challenge against the judgment in the High Court. Mr Justice Stuart-Smith has ruled that the media must not name the school as it could generate a "media storm" and "tensions".?
A 27-year-old woman and 52-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-month-old girl was found unresponsive on a London bus. The Telegraph reports the child was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead after being found on the bus, in Stratford, east London, at 10.20am on Wednesday.
A study has labelled young people as "generation fast-food" after it found one in six teenagers eat it at least twice a day. The Daily Mail reports that the annual BBC Good Food Nation Survey found that adults eat fast good twice a week compared with 14 times or more for 16- to 20-year-olds.?
