
A group of MPs have urged the government to rethink its opposition to implementing a sugar tax, saying the move is essential to tackle childhood obesity. Over half of parents in England have never spoken to their children about mental health problems. Charity Time to Change found that the main reason for this was because parents did not think it was something they needed to discuss, and 20 per cent said it was because they would not know what to say.
A charity has launched a youth justice legal centre in a bid to raise standards in criminal courts and support lawyers working with young people. The centre, launched by Just for Kids Law, will provide legal information for lawyers and others working with children in the criminal justice system.

Primary school children in Salford are being taught about the dangers of getting involved in gangs, following several gang-related shootings in the city. The Manchester Evening News reports that the classes will be aimed at vulnerable Year 5 and 6 pupils from several schools in the area.
