Concerns over "FGM parties" taking place across Yorkshire; increase in calls to Childline about gender identity; and a group of schoolgirls object to FA document, all in the news today.

Young girls are being subjected to female genital mutilation at specially arranged "FGM parties" in Yorkshire, a charity has claimed. The BBC reports that specialist midwives are being flown over from Africa to carry out the illegal procedure on several girls at a time. West Yorkshire Police said they were aware of local cases of FGM.


The number of children calling Childline for support about their gender identity has increased almost three-fold in the past three years, according to the NSPCC. The Daily Mail reports that Childline had 2,796 transgender counselling sessions in the year to March - a significant increase from the 1,102 in the year up to March 2013.


A group of girls who play for their school football team have written a letter to the Football Association expressing their frustration that they were treated like "brainless baby Barbies". The Guardian reports that the girls from Lumley Junior school in County Durham objected to an FA paper designed to encourage female participation in football after studying it during a school writing project about gender equality.


A lack of suitable housing in Wales is forcing homeless children with complex needs to stay in bed and breakfast accommodation, a charity has claimed. The BBC reports that Solas Cymru said the lack of provision means young people are not getting the help they need. The Welsh government said it is working towards ending the use of B&Bs for 16- and 17-year-olds.


A teenager who hacked telecoms firm TalkTalk will be sentenced today for his role in the data breach. ITV News reports that the 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted seven hacking offences, claiming he was just "showing off" to friends.


?A film that reveals what young refugees thought when they first arrived in the city of Hull is to be premiered this week. The Hull Daily Mail reports that the young people will debut their film, Miracle Life, at the Octagon Centre, Hull, on Thursday.?
