Leaked memo reveals Michael Gove considered ousting Ofsted chief Wilshaw; calls for children to be taught about FGM in schools; and care applications rise by seven per cent, all in the news today.

Former Education Secretary Michael Gove considered replacing Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw amid “deep-seated frustrations” over his performance, a leaked document has revealed. The Guardian reports that an internal Whitehall report reveals that Gove discussed the “serious and growing problem” of Ofsted as run by Wilshaw with senior officials and DfE board members.
