Five videos will be shown on cypnow.co.uk, starting on Monday 26 October. The films will feature interviews with young people leaving care and former care leavers. They will share their powerful experiences of leaving the care system to find housing, education and employment, and of trying to cope with mental health issues, build their life skills and integrate into society. Practitioners will also be interviewed about their experiences of helping young people leave the care system.
"Care Leavers' Week this year is all about sharing good practice and looking at what local projects are delivering on the ground," said Janet Rich, children's services development officer at the National Care Association, which has been involved in the project. "Video brings this to life and it means that the sharing can go on throughout the year, not just during the week. Some of the work featured is truly innovative and some of it is just about doing ordinary things extraordinarily well."
