CWDC Update: Help for social workers to refresh their skillset

CWDC is currently funding local authorities to offer advice and training through a series of refresher courses covering social work theory and practice.

These 20-day courses, delivered by local authorities, are proving to be a great success.

Kisha Parker Noble, a social worker at Essex County Council, trained and worked in Jamaica. She moved to the UK in 2008 with her husband, and took part on the return to social work course in order to give her the skills to work in the UK.

Back in Jamaica, prior to becoming a social worker, Kisha started training to be a pilot, but soon realised it wasn't for her. She says: "One of the most rewarding things is helping young people turn themselves around and accomplish their goals. When I found out more about the course here, it was right up the stream of what I needed to prepare to work in England.
