In a letter to a local project, Joe Farrell from the Children's Fund Policy Team said: "We have moved away from the rigid menu approach. Where partnerships already have a strong focus on tackling anti-social behaviours and youth crime, they will be able to count those towards their collaborative working with YOTs."
Dave Ely, a principal policy and practice manager for the Children's Society, said: "We think local partnerships are best placed to judge how many resources should be orientated towards issues of youth justice and youth offending."
The Children's Fund will be extended to 2008, according to Chancellor Gordon Brown's Budget statement.
