Childcare & Early Years: Midwife support service a success

Early Years Health
Community midwives have begun offering support to mums-to-be from a Sure Start children's centre as part of a joint project run by health and early years services in north Warwickshire.

The midwife service at Atherstone Sure Start Children's Centre will offer pregnant women care and support from pregnancy to their child's early years.

Nigel Kee, chief officer in charge of nursing and operations at the George Eliot Hospital, which employs the midwives, said: "It's fantastic to see midwives working in such a friendly and child-friendly environment."

Community midwife Tracy Jones added: "We have lots of links with the groups at the children's centre and outreach programmes that operate here."
