The study, which was carried out by the University of Bristol on behalfof the department, said that such a move could make parents less averseto making payments.
"If a proportion of maintenance could be paid directly into a child'ssavings account (or child trust fund for the younger age group), thatmight remove some animosity towards maintenance payment," the reportstates.
A Department for Work and Pensions spokesman confirmed that paying somemaintenance directly to children was an option "under consideration" bythe Child Support Agency.
