
The findings of this year's 4Children census of children's centres provide further evidence of the extent of the financial challenges facing settings and the measures they are taking to deliver services with reduced budgets.
The census collected data from around 1,000 children's centres - a third of all centres in England - and found that, in cases where children's centres have not been forced to close, they have adapted in a number of ways to continue reaching as many children and families as possible.
For some, this has meant losing staff, shortening opening hours or charging families to use services that were originally free.
