The National Care Advisory Service (NCAS) has been created by the merger of the National Leaving Care Advisory Service and What Makes the Difference?
NCAS, which launches today (25 June), will offer support at a national, regional and local level and help to develop services for looked-after young people aged between 13 and 25.
John Hill, national project manager of NCAS, said: "What Makes the Difference? had a very strong practice message about what is working and now we're bringing that to the strong policy arm of the National Leaving Care Advisory Service. The merging of these will bring more impact."
The Department for Children, Schools and Families has given more than £1m over three years to support NCAS. The work it plans to do includes helping young people make the transition from care to adult life and ensuring they have the education and qualifications they need.
