Can A&E admission data help to prevent knife crime?

The head of Cardiff University's Violence Research Group has called for data on hospital admissions to be used to help identify areas with high levels of knife crime. Anything that raises awareness about the severity and extent of knife crime is a good thing. It is also good to make those involved in crime prevention, as well as the general public, aware of the effect on victims and the rehabilitation they have to go through to get over these incidents. I agree there needs to be more information sharing and partnership working with accident and emergency staff. As well as supplying information, I would also like them to regularly come to some of our sessions to explain more about the effects of knife crime to young people.
