Campaign aims to reform children's services

New research reveals fundamental flaws with the child protection system that can only be addressed by redesigning it, says charity.

The launch this week by charity Kids Company of a campaign to "redesign children's services" is based on the premise that the system of caring for the country's most vulnerable children is broken.

The charity draws this conclusion based on findings from a number of studies - the most recent of which was published this week by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) to coincide with the launch of the campaign - that show many children are being failed by the child protection system. Based on in-depth research into real life cases, the CSJ study, the headline findings for which have been seen by CYP Now, outlines the challenges in the current system preventing children from accessing mental health and child protection interventions.
